What is a “Permiso de Aprovechamiento Forestal” in Peru?

In Peru, a Permiso de Aprovechamiento Forestal is a forest harvest permit, or simply, a forest permit.

Forest permits grant rights for the commercial use of forests falling under two types of forest ownership:

  1. privately owned land; and
  2. lands of native and rural communities.

Forest permits granted in lands of native and rural communities are further classified into three categories: small, medium, or large scale.
