A Makassar District Court declared the search and seizure of 57 containers of Merbau at Soekarno-Hatta Port on January 6, 2019 as valid.
The seizure was carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) and involved about 914 cubic meters of Merbau estimated to be worth about US$ 1.2 million.
Six businesses sued the KLHK, asking the Makassar District Court to declare the search and seizure unlawful, and to declare a warrant for investigation null and void.
The businesses that lost the lawsuit include Rizky Mandiri Timber, Mevan Jaya, Edom Artha Jaya, Harapan Bagot, Mansinam Global Mandiri, and Rajawali Papua Foresta.
