57 containers of Merbau wood, allegedly illegal, were seized in the Port of Makassar, Indonesia. The volume of wood is estimated to be 914 cubic meters (387,536 board feet) and worth about $US 1.2 Million. The shipments originated from Jayapura Port in Papua and were destined for Surabaya, East Java. The bust follows the seizure of 40 containers of Merbau in December 2018, also of Papua origin. Authorities have yet to report a suspect in this most recent case and the investigation is still underway.
